    Pets
April: April was my first pet. My aunt Cynthia got her for me the first time I had my nose done (I have weak veins in my nose). She was sitting up front in the cage at the Humane Society, crying a pathetic little mew. I had to have her. She was a sweet intelligent cat, and we loved each other very much - until I got another cat, Tiger. After that she hated me, and she started to gain a lot of weight. Her and Tiger never got along, and I feel really bad about the way everything ended up. She died of unknown circumstances on Christmas Eve when she was only 4 years old.

Tiger: Tiger was my second cat. He was an adorable, bad little kitten, and he loved to chew my hair. He's a Maine Coon, so he's a gigantic cat, bigger than a lot of dogs. He's gotten very bad tempered as he's gotten older, and he now hates other cats. He lives with my great aunt Cynthia.

Allie: When my mother and I lived in Arizona, one of the places we lived was Metrocenter, near the mall. There was a Petsmart around there, and we loved to go look at the animals. One day I saw a very pretty kitty and she reminded me of Tiger, who I was missing. My mother was busy watching the kittens playing, and didn't really care about the 4 year old cat I was watching. She took one look at me, and turned around in her cage so her back was towards me. I thought that was the funniest thing in the world. We went in to pet her and she had the softest fur I'd ever felt. From then on I pestered my mom to get her. She was expensive because Petsmart got their animals through a Catholic animal rescue mission, and not the humane society, and the deposit for having an animal in an apartment complex was a lot too, but my mom agreed to get her after I left for Pittsburgh for the summer. I came back to Allie, the soft, spotted, striped cat, and she was a sweetheart. She's not a lapcat and she hates to be held, which means I hug her a lot. She likes to run around like a crazy cat, she talks a lot, and she's a spoiled little princess. Like Tiger, she hates other animals.

Lacey: Lacey is my newest baby. There was a stray kitten coming around near Pap Pap's and he was feeding her. Bonnie didn't want the cat around so she suggested he send her over to Cynthia since she already had a few cats, and then the kitten would be taken care of. So one weekend when I was over there he sent her back with me. Cynthia wanted her to be taken to a separate room and then let out, but he let her out downstairs so of course she ran and hid. It took a while but I coaxed her out, and she was put down the cellar on her own for a while. The cellar wasn't a good idea either because there was lot's of places for her to hide, but I got her playing with a piece of lace and eventually I got her into a room upstairs. I loved holding her because she was so small and she couldn't get away from me like Allie can. She was such a sweet little baby, and she bonded with me. I sort of named her Lacey, but Cynthia doesn't like the name and everyone calls her the kitten, or the baby. She was an angel and a devil when she was young, and still is. Unlike my other cats, she's a lapcat and (used) to like to be held, she'd even let you hold her like you hold a baby. She's around a year old now, but she's still a small cat and always will be. She's scared of other cats because Tiger hissed at her the first day she was there, and then almost took her eye out a couple of weeks later. She was in so much pain and just laying around, I felt so bad since I should have been watching her more carefully, knowing how bad Tiger was.

Other: I've also owned two hermit crabs. I can't remember the first ones name, but the second I got was Zipporah (aka Zippy). Neither of them lasted very long.

I've never really named any of my cats, and only one of my hermit crabs (the other one was given to me by a friend I met in Maryland one summer). I had to have Cynthia's approval to call April April, Tiger's name was orinally Wild Thing, and when I went back to Arizona after the summer was over Cynthia renamed him. When I got Allie she was 4 and already had a name. I named Lacey but as I've said Cynthia doesn't like that name, and doesn't call her that. Cynthia is very unoriginal in naming her cats. Tabby was a tabby cat, Smoky had Russian Blue in him, Tiger has tiger stripes, etc... I'm surprised she doesn't name Lacey "spot" or "whitey".
